The road to becoming a racer!

With enough gasoline in your blood, the first requirement for a career as a racing driver is already met. But the will to participate in races is not everything. To drift over the gravel, racers have to learn a lot and have above-average stamina. Even if it seems easy, entering the world of motorsports is not that difficult, because, from the age of 8 years on, a person can take a seat in the saddle of a go-kart and push the gas.

Off to the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring or any motor racing circuit – Or would you instead practice first?

Of course, driving itself is the biggest challenge. New drivers often see themselves as stars of the scene and dream of nothing less than a victory at the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring, the premier class.

But there’s still a long way to go until then. Perhaps every young shoemaker should take a few days off and watch the pros on the track first. Global-Tickets, for example, offer tickets for the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring, giving everyone access to the famous race.

Just sniff some asphalt and gasoline to absorb the feeling.

Young drivers start on small racing cars.

The youngest drivers start on the go-kart. This allows them to participate in the youth kart slalom or in the Bambi class. For race’s licenses must be obtained. You can get a large part of them if you have participated in a certain number of events. If the doctor gives the okay for race suitability, the race can already start.

Of course, there are also courses where licenses can also be obtained. Sometimes a car is provided for the exams, and sometimes you drive your own car. However, it is best to complete a so-called practice training. The local automobile clubs offer these at regular intervals.

At what age is it possible to enter motorsports?

From the age of 8 years on, the world of racing can be explored.
Further gradations are:

  • 8 years: Karting
  • 10 years: Junior karts (cross karts) in the autocross sector
  • 15 years: Co-driver in rallying
  • 16 years: series touring cars, junior formula series in the circuit racing sector
  • 18 years: All classes

Racing with your own car – Away from the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Races do not necessarily have to be driven with a Formula 1 car. It is also possible to gain your first experiences in a car away from the great Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Many race organizers require no more than your own car and a helmet. So even with a small budget, a lot of experience can be gained.

Of course, motorsport is not without danger. The right equipment is essential if regular races should take place later on.

These are the essential utensils: at least a two-layer racing overall,

  • Underwear
  • Gloves
  • Shoes
  • balaclava

If everything is present, it means practice, practice, practice. Who knows if the first 24-hour race is not coming up soon.

Kreisel Electric will equip electric WRX

In two years, the Rallycross World Championship will be electric. The Austrian company Kreisel Electric will supply the corresponding drive.

Rallycross-E

The FIA World Council has decided: From 2021 to 2024, Kreisel Electric will supply the kit for the electric drive with which the Rallycross World Championship (WRX) will open a new chapter.

The drive system consists of a battery with 52.65 kWh capacity, a unique cooling system, and an electric motor each on the front and rear axle, producing 500 kW (680 hp). The teams should be able to retrofit their current vehicles with this kit or build new cars with gyroscopes’ help.

The price for the kit is 300,000 euros plus 100,000 euros for four years of support. According to the world association, this is cheaper than using well-known combustion engines.

The prototype will be presented in March 2020, and orders can be placed from April 17, 2020.

Junior Electric Championship

One step below, QEV Technologies was selected to implement the new Junior Electric Championship concept, which is also scheduled to start in 2021. QEV is to develop a uniform four-wheel-drive vehicle for this purpose, which will have a 32 kWh battery and 250 kW. Up to 20 cars compete in six European races, and the costs per race will be 30,000 euros.

THIS IS WHY WINTER TIRES ARE SO IMPORTANT IN WINTER!

Even though the temperatures are still comparatively mild, drivers should change their tires now. According to Idealo, those who still have to buy winter tires should do so in October or November to save costs:

In this October, the weather is still comparably mild during the day, but the temperatures already drop close to the 0C° limit at night.

If you would like to have your winter tires changed in a workshop to have them checked and balanced immediately, you should make an appointment as soon as possible. Because on the one hand, some workshops still offer discounts at this time, and, on the other hand, many will want to make an appointment when the first snowfalls.

After all, winter tires not only provide a better grip, they are also mandatory in Germany because the legislator prescribes that with winter road conditions, one must have equipped its passenger car either all-weather or winter tires.

Otherwise, a fine at a value of 60 euro threatens and a point in Flensburg, who obstructs the traffic because of the summer tires, must pay even 80 euros and receive an issue in the traffic sin file.

Who is involved with a wrong tire in an accident can get partial blame alone because of rough negligence?

It all depends on the tread depth.

The highest possible tread pattern is recommended, especially for winter tires, as this allows the wheels to achieve the best grip. In Germany, legislation requires a minimum tread depth of 1.6 millimeters, and the ADAC even recommends a tread depth of four millimeters.

This year, Autobild has again tested various winter tires, the best of which come from the manufacturers Uniroyal, Michelin, Continental, and Semperit. The difference in braking distance here was only 1.5 meters (80 km/h).

But even when there is no snow, the winter tires offer better grip in cold weather than summer tires.
