It’s time for the huge one, the holy grail of Australian Motorsport, the Bathurst 1000.
It’s an event that the car racing fans from worldwide waiting for the countdown to, and it’s the Grand Final of our sporting activity.
1000kms, 161 laps, one legendary circuit.
Mt Panorama is the best mix of beauty and danger. There’s the Dipper, McPhilamy Park, The Chase, Conrod Straight, almost every meter of the 6.2 kilometers circuit is incredible.
Yet when The Mountain bites, it attacks hard, and that’s why we like it. Focus is essential, especially over longer jobs.
Endurance racing is not almost lap times, though, with everybody playing a part, especially in the pit lane section. There are seven obligatory pit-stops during the race, which are all crucial in setting up a result.
New this year is a mandatory front brake rotor adjustment during one of the quits, on top of the necessary front brake pad modification. The brake blades and also caliper will be swapped out for a new set, adding a new measurement into the race strategy.
Like in 2014, rainfall appears as it will undoubtedly be a factor in the weekend break. There is in between 5-10mm expected on Thursday, and showers on Sunday, which will undoubtedly be sure to spice things up.
Scott Pye and Warren Luff will undoubtedly be wanting to go one better in 2018, after a spectacular second-place surface in 2017, while James Courtney and Jack Perkins are hoping to dominate The Hill for the first time.
Both cars and trucks will debut a brand-new silver livery for this weekend, which will undoubtedly stay on both automobiles for the remainder of the year.
